Timeslips by Sage and Microsoft Windows Vista™
Microsoft Windows Vista has been generally available since January 30, 2007, and will eventually replace earlier Microsoft operating systems. Whether you are purchasing a new PC or upgrading your existing PC to Windows Vista, it is important to know whether your Timeslips software will function properly.
Please select the Timeslips version you are using or plan to use:
Timeslips 2008 or 2009:
Timeslips 2008 and Timeslips 2009 work with Microsoft Vista and will install and run on installations using Microsoft Vista. For optimal performance, it is recommended that you upgrade to the current version of Timeslips if you are using an older product.
Timeslips 2007:
The Timeslips 2007 products were generally available for purchase and upgrade in June 2006 and were originally developed to work with the Windows XP SP1 or 2 and Windows 2000 SP1 or 2 operating systems. Windows Vista and Timeslips 2007 products have been tested with the Windows Vista operating system.
The Timeslips 2007 products will install and run on Microsoft Vista. Below are a list of issues that have been detected in Timeslips 2007 when installed on the Windows Vista operating system:
- The default template for Timeslips Today does not display properly when opened repeatedly in edit mode with 800x600 resolution on Vista
- Internet settings and Microsoft Office applications do not show in System Information when running on Vista
- Application Error trying to run Timeslips 10.1 on Vista
- Firm Budget reports show “No filter applied” in the applied filter criteria section of the report
- Period reports can cut off data displayed on the right side of the page on Vista
- When printing to Excel the spreadsheet is minimized in the toolbar if you are using Vista
- When using the ‘Automatically update the report’ setting the displayed Budget report will not recalculate when a change is made if the user is on Vista
- Selecting File; Import opens the Import dialog minimized in the toolbar when running Vista
- Exception Error trying to open Timeslips 9.1 in Vista
- The Slip List will not show slips as approved. The yellow envelope does not display in Vista.
- When purge begins the Purge dialog does not close on Vista
- No warning message is given when trying to install Timeslips Remote over Timeslips Remote Plus on a Vista workstation
- The client e-mail field is available on Timeslips Remote when installed on Vista but the field does not exchange information with Timeslips
- Add-ons, like Add Station and LEDES98, will not install into older versions if they are using Vista
- Crystal Reports cannot be used with Timeslips on Vista
- Timeslips cannot link with a Quickbooks database on Vista
- QuickBooks cannot connect with Timeslips on Vista.
- In Firm Assistant on Vista using F6 shortcut key twice will not open the Details dialog
- Shortcuts Page Dn, Page Up, Ctrl+PgUp, Ctrl+PgDn do not work on Vista.
- If Vista is set to use a language besides English date formats will be incorrect
- Graphs may not appear on Timeslips Today when using Windows Vista – Knowledge Center article 20129
- Timeslips does not appear in the Outlook toolbar when using Windows Vista – Knowledge Center article 20167
- Text on buttons and checkboxes may disappear when using Windows Vista - Knowledge Center article 20169
- Message “WinHelp32.exe is no longer included with windows” opening Timeslips Help using Vista - Knowledge Center article 2160
- OK and Cancel buttons do not display properly when opened from TSTimer Entry - Knowledge Center article 20172
- Unable to create slips from Outlook items, users can receive errors.
- Outlook link used inside of Timeslips opens but gives you an error message.

- “Server execution failed” error creating slips from TSTimer entries
At this point, we have no plans to issue updates or patches for Timeslips 2007 to correct any issues/defects that our tests may reveal. Current support plans will be honored only for Timeslips 2007 versions that are running on an operating system that was supported at product release.
Timeslips 2006 or earlier:
Timeslips 2006 and previous versions of Timeslips will not run on the Windows Vista operating system. These products were developed and tested prior to the availability of the operating system and will not be tested to work with Windows Vista.
Our current policy provides support for Timeslips 2005 and Timeslips 2006. These products will work with Windows 98, Windows XP and 2000 with SP1 or 2 operating systems. Current support plans will be honored only for prior Timeslips versions that are running on an operating system, mentioned above, as supported at product release. Windows Vista will not be supported. |
